As India’s live entertainment industry evolves, District and Airtel are collaborating to raise the bar on connected fan experiences through dedicated digital infrastructure.
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], November 3: District, the going out platform and Airtel today announced a first-of-its-kind collaboration to create a better connected live entertainment experience in India. As part of the collaboration, the 16-acre open-air concert venue in Bengaluru will be renamed Airtel Arena. District, will continue to shape what fans, artists and organisers experience there, while Airtel will invest in dedicated digital infrastructure designed to deliver seamless connectivity and enhance the overall fan experience.
The collaboration goes well beyond a venue association. It brings together District’s vision for world-class live entertainment and Airtel’s expertise in delivering seamless digital experiences at scale, with the shared objective of making large-scale live events better connected for fans, artists and organisers alike.
While named venues are standard practice in mature live entertainment markets, the Indian live entertainment circuit has so far had limited examples of large ecosystem brands committing capital investment to venue infrastructure, rather than brand association alone. The Airtel-District collaboration reflects the next phase of India’s live entertainment evolution, where digital infrastructure is becoming as integral to the experience as the venue itself.
Today’s live entertainment experience extends far beyond the performance itself. Fans expect to livestream performances, instantly share moments, make digital payments and stay connected with friends and family throughout an event. Reliable connectivity has therefore become an integral part of the overall experience, not just a utility. Airtel’s investment directly addresses this need through dedicated high-capacity digital infrastructure, ensuring customers enjoy reliable, high-speed connectivity even during peak demand. The infrastructure will complement the venue’s existing mobile pre-order and cashless top-up functions, with enhancements expected to roll out ahead of the upcoming event season.
Rahul Ganjoo, CEO, District, said, “India has fewer than ten purpose-built venues that can host more than 10,000 people. The live entertainment industry has outgrown that base, and the shortfall is now the single biggest constraint on what fans here get to experience. The industry needs more collaborations of the kind Airtel has committed to: brands from the wider ecosystem identifying where the foundations need investment, and putting capital behind closing the gap. That is what it will take to deliver world-class experiences to fans in India.”
Suchita Salwan, Chief Customer Officer, Airtel said, “At Airtel, we believe great experiences are built on great connectivity. As live entertainment continues to evolve in India, seamless digital experiences have become an integral part of every concert—from sharing moments in real time and making digital payments to simply staying connected with friends and family. Powered by Airtel’s advanced 5G network and digital infrastructure, our partnership with District reflects our commitment to solving these everyday customer needs while enhancing the overall fan experience”
K Vasudeva Udupa, Founder Director, Go-Golf Entertainment LLP said, “We built this venue with an intent to provide attendees in India a world-class live experience, and give organisers, promoters and artists an efficient one to work within. Every design decision, from the modular stage to the service roads built for backstage logistics, was made guided by that same intent. With District shaping the experience on-ground and Airtel now investing in its digital infrastructure, is exactly the kind of collaboration that helps us build on that foundation.”
The venue was built from the ground up by Go-Golf Entertainment LLP, as a production-ready home for large-scale live events in India, with modular infrastructure designed to reduce setup time and production costs for organisers. The Airtel collaboration is the first of several intended to deepen what the venue can offer to fans, artists and the wider industry. Together, District and Airtel are creating a venue designed not only to host world-class events, but also to deliver a world-class connected experience for every fan. Airtel Arena is among the largest open-air concert venues in the country, with the capacity to accommodate over 17,000 fans, and has already hosted concerts and tours by Arijit Singh, Anirudh Ravichander and Bryan Adams.
The venue features a modular main stage built to international production standards, with roof truss and IMAG extensions, a dedicated artist village and backstage area, an 80-foot box office, and parking for 4,500 cars and 1,000 two-wheelers, supported by dedicated service roads for emergency access and backstage logistics. Each of these elements has been designed with the dual brief of reducing production overhead for organisers while delivering a fan experience that meets international standards.
